The focus of this class is proper execution of technique, balance and how to maximize the effectiveness of striking. This class provides the foundation for students' ultimate progression to advanced classes, such as the novice and pro classes. Heavy bag, shield work and partner drills are emphasized.
This class is NON-CONTACT. Students who demonstrate proficiency will be invited to attend the novice class.
Soft to medium contact is expected in this class (you may be a little sore, but you will not go to work the next day with bruises or a black eye!).
* Equipment is needed to participate in this class: 16oz gloves (or MMA gloves), shin pads, and groin cup are REQUIRED. Mouthpieces are STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
The focus of this class will be the development of fighting tactics and strategy. Students will also be subjected to "impact drills" designed to condition the body to become hard and resist pain from strikes. Light to heavy sparing is required.
*Students must obtain instructor permission before advancing to the Pro class. Equipment required.
You will sweat. You will get tired. You will have fun. You will get results.
Learn all the basic punches, kicks and training techniques real fighters use to get in top condition. Although a majority of this class is focused on punching and kicking the heavy bags, you will also jump rope, learn proper foot work and technique, participate in medicine ball drills and other abdominal and strength training exercises.
The difference between the boxing and kickboxing classes is that no kicking is required in the boxing class.
AO8 offers classes for children from the ages of 8-16 years old in a safe, fun and challenging environment.
The kids' program is a great way to introduce your child to the fundamentals of boxing and kickboxing. The kids' program is a structured class where every child is encouraged to do their best.
Positive encouragement and motivation is the primary goal. Basic physical fitness drills are practiced in class to develop balance, coordination, strength, speed and agility. The kids' program also fosters respect, communication and teamwork among their peers and their elders.
It may be necessary for a child to go through an assessment class first before they enter into the kids group class.
* Class t-shirt and equipment is necessary (hand wraps and gloves).
